Dealers shut Computer Village in Protest

By Jennifer Y Omiloli

Dealers in the Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday shut down exercises to challenge the arranged establishment of female and male market pioneers “Iyaoloja” and “Babaloja” respectively in the hub.

The merchants told newsmen covering the challenge that the PC town was a global market that did not need such burden of Iyaoloja.

Mr Wasiu Agbaje, an Information Communication Technology (ICT) Engineer, said that center point dislike the ordinary markets where such ought to be forced.

Agbaje said that introducing such would undermine the center point on the grounds that there was no connection among innovation and Iyaoloja.

“What does the Iyaoloja and Babaloja have to offer, what value are they going to add to the hub? And what technological innovations are they bringing?

“The computer village is not like any other street market where pepper and other things are sold.

“It is an international technological hub and it should be treated as such,” he said.

Likewise, an agent who favored obscurity, told newsmen that the PC town was a worldwide market and ought to be treated all things considered.

As per him, it will undermine the situation of PC town universally as the greatest mechanical center in West Africa.

He said introducing such Iyaoloja and Babaloja would repudiate what the center point was known for and break the harmony there on the grounds that it was anything but a standard market.

A Software engineer, Mr Joseph Efosa, said that such establishment would irritate the 25 years of tranquil presence of the center point.

Efosa said that the PC town was not a customary market and such establishment was not required.
