Don’t expect miracles of God for self inflicted crisis – Activist Dr. Maryam

By Gabriel Udeh, Kaduna

Peace Activist and national President of Women for Peace in Nigeria (WOPIN) Haj. (Dr) Maryam Abdullahi has said people should not expect miracle of God for self inflicted human crises all the time.

Dr Maryam Abdullahi made the assertion in a speech during the national peace summit and investiture of her HRH Queen, Mother Amina Timitope Ajiayi Labijo (Mama Disapora), organized by Miyetti Allah brand Ambassador.

She said “Peace will not come from sky, because violence is our creation, peace depend on us. We should have the ‘’will power’’ to face conflict without using violence but through dialogue.

According to her, this century should be the one of dialogue, adding that dialogue remains the best method to solved conflicts.

“A world without conflict is unrealistic, we human beings have different intelligence, abilities, hope, expectation, ideas and interest. It is obvious that conflicts will be there; In order to carry dialogue, we need to be determined”, she said.

While she acknowledged that determination is based on compassion, Haj. said that people should simply respect others rights and interest.

“We need a compassionate heart and wisdom to get inner peace. Peace is greater than power, nothing is more important than peace, not even success. There are many people that have the Millions but they have no mental peace” she noted.

Maryam said only when people are peaceful that they can be able to develop, think clearly, brainstorms creative ideas and follow through on our plans. “When we are stressed all the time, it only reflect in our result. “Today everything is interdependent, from Nation to Nations from Continent to Continents, all are heavily interdependent.

“Today, no Nation or people is our enemy, but rather part of our self. Therefore destruction of enemy is actually destruction of our self”, she added.

Let’s make peace with our past, you can’t walk through your life with one foot in the past, it is important that you make peace with what ever happened in your past. Time heals almost everything, sometimes all we need is to cut ourselves some slack and make time for our wound to heal, is also what you do with the time that heals you from within.

“You and no one else is responsible for your happiness. Only after you take full responsibility for your life, can you make any change. “People who blame other people or external circumstances for their short comings are not only wrong but they also give their power away”, she stated

In addition, she said education Institution should also take responsibilities of moral values, stressing that even though complete elimination of destruction is impossible, people should not let anger and hatred disturb their inner peace.
