China Habour assures on Abuja, Makurdi expressway

By Peter Usman

Managing Director of China Habour, Mr. Zhang Wenfeng has assured motorists and other road users of the early completion of the  10 lane Abuja Maraba expressway and the dual carriage  Keffi to Makurdi expressway, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Mr.  Wenfeng  spoke today in Abuja when he took some journalists on an assessment tour of the project which was flagged off last October by the Minister of Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola.

He noted that China Habour, has already deployed men and materials to site and work was progressing at an appreciable rate and on schedule.

“Irrespective of the initial hiccups we are happy that this project has finally kicked off, you know this project was supposed to have started in 2017, but was delayed until it was flagged off by the Honourable Minister of Works late last years, between then and now we have recorded appreciable level of works on the four sections of the construction project”

Wenfeng noted that the Abuja Maraba axis of the road has a total length of 5.4 kilometres and has ten lanes as a result of the volume of traffic on this section of the road.

“The total length of the project is about 220 kilometers, but the Abuja Maraba section is very important segment and is about 5.4 kilometers. This section has ten lanes as a result of the volume of traffic we have in this area. On completion, the current congestion motorists experience on this segment would be a thing of the past”

He noted China Habour was a global company that has successfully handled very complex turnkey projects all over the world, assuring that they would bring their world standard expertise to bear in the delivery of the project.

He used the occasion to appeal to communities along the road corridor to cooperate with China Habour as the federal government has put measures in place to ensure that those to be affected by the project are adequately compensated.

He also called on motorists and other commuters plying the road to bear with the company as measures have been put in place to make sure that the construction process is as less disruptive as possible.
