Nagarta College Sokoto Receives Attention From Government, Old Boys

Must read

By Muhammad Goronyo, Sokoto

Education, they say, is the responsibility of all. This saying fits well when I paid a visit to a famous institution in Sokoto State, Nagarta College, Sokoto. What I saw was enormous and if that can be replicated in other institutions of learning, the ugly narratives on the standard of education in our dear country can be changed for the better.

Most annoying is that greater percentage of both Primary and Secondary Schools students are currently sitting on bare chopped floors while others bring small mats, praying carpets or cartons as their sits and their laps as their desks.

The State Government, under the leadership Aminu Waziri Tambuwal through series of complaints has renovated the College and procured basic infrastructure such as students’ beds, mattresses, classroom furniture, science laboratories equipment and other teaching and learning materials for the college.

On their own part, the Nagarta Old Boys Association (NOBA) has equally executed a number of capital projects for the betterment of their alma mata.

Among their projects are the renovation of some students hostels that were recently raised by fire outbreak in the college and renovation of the school administrative block among others.

My visit to the college confirms to me that the college is still in its good shape and teaching and learning continue to go on smoothly except for some few challenges that are necessitated by the insecurity situation which resulted in the merger of schools across the state. Such challenges are therefore not peculiar to Nagarta College.

Concerned citizens who appreciated current looks of the college depicts a neater, tidier, more standardized and more equipped Nagarta College than what obtained in the recent past.
