Kaduna state Government extends ban on ‘Okada’, others indefinitely

The Kaduna State Government has extended the ban on operation of commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada riders and other containment measures put in place owing to terrorists activities in the state, indefinitely.
The ban came after the expiration of the initiatial three months according to government security update issued Tuesday 4th January 2022.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs Mr Samuel Aruwan on Tuesday stated that the ban is applicable to both commercial and personal motorcycles in the State

“We wish to inform citizens that the ban on use of motorcycles (popularly known as “Okada”), for commercial or personal purposes remains in place until further notice.

“Other containment measures which remain fully in place are listed includes ban on wielding dangerous weapons, restriction on the movement of tricycles from dusk till dawn, (7PM to 6AM) in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko and Kajuru LGAs”, is stated.
According to the release, the Kaduna State Government continues to empathized with citizens over difficulties which these measures may engender, and implores all residents to comply fully with these measures in the wider interest of general security.
