Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing drawn from the three Senatorial Districts of the state were on Monday endorsed Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola for second term in office.
Speaking at the event which took place at the state headquarters of APC in Osogbo, the Osun State APC Youth Leader, Comrade Goke Akinwemimo Ibrahim who described projects executed by the administration of Governor Oyetola as people-oriented, said their choice of voting Mr Governor has yielded positive results, hence deserves another chance.
Comrade Ibrahim, said the Governor has performed well in his first term and deserves another term for him to complete his good work.
The Osun State Youth Leader who was highly elated said, “it’s not that we are making mouth, Governor Oyetola has turned around the fortunes of the state with his developmental projects towards the betterment of the entire citizens of the state, so we don’t need to think twice before calling or accepting his second term agenda.
” Governor Oyetola has empowered many youths in the state, taking them from grass to grace, he involves youths in his governance and allow the youths to contribute their quotas to the development of Osun, who will now tell us not to demonstrate our unflinching support for our amiable, God fearing and peoples Governor Oyetola? “.
While Speaking, the State All progressive Congress Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun commended the youth wing of the party for the solidarity demonstrated for the Governor on his second term agenda.
According to Prince Famodun, “the assemblage of the youths here today shows acceptability of the Governor to run for second term. More importantly, what we are doing today is an endorsement of the youths for the Governor for second term.
“I want to assure the people of this state that this party will not let them down. We are solidly behind the Governor, we are working with him, the party is behind him, the leaders of the party are behind him, all women, and everybody in the party are behind him. We are products of progress and we are supporting the Governor massively.
“We foresee nothing but absolute victory at the polls. And we are very confident of it. I am a core politician and we have been operating in this state for quite some time. We are looking at all the indices that win elections, and they are all with APC in the state.
“Forget about the unnecessary antics of the elements of retrogression. APC is a strong party and it is unbreakable. I’m saying this emphatically. It is unbreakable by any citizen, whoever he is.
” I am assuring the people of this state that APC would not disappoint them. The primary is forgone. This (gathering) is part of the primary. All the nine federal Constituencies have endorsed the Governor. The youths of the state are endorsing the Governor. Almost everyone in the party has endorsed the Governor. This is part of what we would have in the primary election.” Famodun said.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Ismail Omipidan the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor said the youths have proven themselves up to the task ahead by the mobilization.
He also appreciated the presence of the APC State Chairman, Honourable Famoodun who he described as “a good father who is interested in the development of the youths.”
Honourable Yemi Lawal, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, said the job of the youths in election is a valiant as well as crucial.
“Youths are crucial in Electoral and election process. We need to empower them. We are aware of Youth Mobilization. We shall do it together, from states to Wards to Unit.
On Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES), he said there should be no cause for alarm if anyone is yet to find his name on the form as more are being done to straighten some things on the Scheme.
Special Adviser For Water Resources & Energy in the state, Honourable Adeniran Ibitoye (popularly called KLM) thereafter called for youths’ participation and engagement in the coming election.
“Let all youths participate. We own the vote. We have to mobilize and be part of electorate from the units to wards and to the state level. It is sardonic that our lethargy leads to the distortion of the Senior citizens being majority of the electorate.
“We have to relate to make impacts on others. We should constitute relationships with students unions. We should do more youths empowerments.
Furthermore, Honourable Afeez Bolaji Repete, the National Deputy Youth Leader noted that youths have a lot to do in the incoming gubernatorial election in the state.
“It is our collective responsibility and task as youths. We have been given the opportunity to prove ourselves in the best way possible. We pray as we would work to excel.”
The event was graced by dignitaries of the party such as Honourable Afeez Bolaji Repete, National Deputy Youth Leader
Honourable Rabiu Lateef, who represented Dr. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru (Osun Central Senator) among others.
