…Commences Dutse market clean up exercise

In it’s fight against crime and criminality in the FCT, the FCT Administration has waged war on the drug colony located around the Kubwa- Dutse road as over 45 kg of cannabis were confisticated and two suspects were arrested.
The raid on the deadly drug colony was carried out today.
Many passersby who witnessed the clean up operation by the FCT Ministerial Task Force on Cit Sanitation expressed happiness because the drug hideout was destroyed.
Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Attah Ikharo, who led the operation, hinted that the drug colony was exposed by security intelligence, which precipitated a marching order from FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello for it’s destruction.
Ikharo who expressed displeasure over the persistent lawlessness activities of some residents, handed over the suspects and the siezed drugs to the operatives of Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation.
He disclosed that they have intensified aggressive monitoring in the territory to track down all criminal elements, and everything that constitute security threat in all parts of Abuja.
He also decried the return of illegal activities of roadside traders in Dutse market, after it was cleared some months ago.
Ikaro said that the chaotic situation at the Dutse market which the FCTA invested so much resources and time to tackle has returned with the aid of some market Managers and unscrupulous officials.
He described the situation as a ticking time bomb waiting to explode, adding that administration is determination to deal ruthlessly with all contravention and those promoting the unacceptable behavior.
Also speaking at the scene the Deputy Director , Enforcement of Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) Kaka Bello, said the enforcement team won’t relent in it’s efforts to restore environmental order to the city.
Bello noted that the destroyed drug colony is suspected to be managed by high profile drug syndicate, going by their confidence to peddle drugs in such highbrow area, noting that the illegal activities constituting nuisance, have persisted because the city was large with a surging population growth.
