A man in Edo State shoots his wife, leading to the amputation of her hand.

On June 3, a man identified as Okhiria was arrested by the Edo State Police Command for shooting his wife during an argument in the Ekae community of the New Etete area, GRA, Benin. The suspect retrieved his gun during the altercation and fired at his wife, causing the bullet to hit her left hand. As a result of the incident, the victim underwent a hand amputation. The case was reported to the New Etete Police Division, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor.According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, he stated, “On June 3, the police received a complaint from some elders of the Ekae community involving Joanki Okhiria, a nine-year-old, who reported that on the same day, Joanki Okhiria’s father had an argument with his wife, Tina Okhiria.

“During the altercation, Okhiria shot Tina with his double-barrel gun, injuring her left hand. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital where her hand was amputated.”

Nwabuzor further mentioned that the police have successfully apprehended the suspect and are currently conducting an investigation. The suspect will soon be charged in court in accordance with the law.
