During the 2024 Oke Ibadan festival organized by the Olokun Festival Foundation (OFF) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians due to the removal of fuel subsidies and the hike in electricity tariffs.

Adams highlighted the widespread concern among Nigerians regarding the current state of affairs in the country. He commended the government’s initiative of Independent Power Supply in states but stressed the necessity for more proactive measures to mitigate the challenges faced by citizens.

While acknowledging the potential benefits of state-level power supply initiatives, Adams expressed his reservations about the persisting power outages and the adverse effects of the increased electricity tariffs on various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

He lamented the profound impact of these policies on ordinary Nigerians, citing the exacerbation of economic challenges and inflationary pressures. Adams underscored the need for the government to address these pressing issues promptly to alleviate the burdens borne by the populace.

Additionally, Adams reiterated the importance of establishing state police forces, emphasizing that ensuring the security of lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of the government.
