A multimillion-naira duplex situated at Plot 226 Cadastral Zone, A02 Wuse 1, Wuse Zone 6 District in Abuja has been demolished by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). The reason for the demolition was the construction of the building on an unapproved plot of land.
Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of Development Control, addressed the media in Abuja, explaining the circumstances surrounding the demolition. He disclosed that the duplex was reportedly owned by the late Alake of Egba Land, Oba Oye Lipede.
Galadima stated, “We carried out the demolition of the duplex because it was built without proper land title and building plan approval on someone else’s land. Our investigation revealed that the developer did not own the plot, which is why we took action to remove the building.”
“The demolition was conducted after going through the necessary procedures. The developer had been served multiple notices to cease construction, but despite the warnings, they continued to work on the property. Once we established the true owner of the plot through our investigation, we proceeded with the demolition. We will be consulting with the legal department to determine the appropriate actions to take against the developer,” Galadima explained.
The demolition serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to proper land ownership and building regulations to avoid legal complications and property damage.
