Access, Diamond Banks to jointly commemorate International Women’s Day

By Jane Adams

Access Bank Plc, says it is still committed to women as it is set to jointly mark the International Women’s Day, 2019 with Diamond Bank Plc while both look forward to the successful completion of a merger process.

Mr Herbert Wigwe, Group Managing Director of the bank, said on Sunday in Lagos that Access Bank was constantly in support of women, particularly by promoting women-focused initiatives.

“At the core of our services is catering to the needs of women and we are constantly gearing efforts towards promoting women-focused initiatives and providing opportunities to help them maximise their potential.

“One of the reasons we are going to host a breakfast conference is to help women overcome limitations as well as reach their best potential,” Wigwe said in a statement by Mr Abdul Imoyo, Head, Media Relations of the bank.

“As we expand with the merger, and continue on our journey to building Africa’s biggest retail bank, our women now have more innovative offerings that they can explore to make themselves and their businesses better.”

Corroborating the assertion, Head of Affluent Banking at Diamond Bank, Dolapo Orelaja, said the joint conference between Diamond and Access Bank had been organised to equip women with the knowledge.

Orelaja said they also required skills that would grow their businesses, develop themselves and stay relevant in the fast changing business environment of today.

“We are very passionate about women and their progress in life,” she added.

The bank said the day would be celebrated with a two-day event involving a breakfast conference with a theme: “Balance for Better”which held from March 13 to March 14, 2019.

It said both banks would host women across various industries to a breakfast conference at Eko Hotel and Suites on the second day of the conference, March 14, 2019.

Ms Ada Udechukwu, Head of Women Banking, Access Bank Plc, said the bank remained passionate about the women and their overall well-being.

“We are interested in their growth in family life, career, health and other areas. We will continue to provide platforms and support programmes that will enhance their businesses.

“This value-packed conference is being organised to help women learn essential lessons which can be applied to their daily lives and businesses.

“It will help them to become all they want to be and be the best at it,” she said.
