ACDA Denounces Petition Alleging Oppression of Hausa, Fulani in Zangon Kataf

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Atyap Community Development Association (ACDA) has condemned a circulating petition accusing the Agwatyap, Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya, of injustice and oppression against Hausa and Fulani residents in Zangon Urban, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

In a statement signed by its president, Dr. Samuel T. Achie, ACDA described the allegations as “false, provocative, and divisive,” warning that the petition was a deliberate attempt to destabilize peace in Atyap Chiefdom.

The association said the Agwatyap is a respected peace-builder known for fairness to all ethnic and religious groups in his domain. It accused “faceless mischief-makers” of trying to incite ethno-religious tensions and urged security agencies to identify and prosecute the petition’s authors.

ACDA also clarified that land disputes in Atyap land are between individuals or families, not ethnic groups, and are resolved through traditional arbitration or the courts.

The group demanded a retraction of the “libelous publication” and called on all residents to work together to sustain peace in Zangon Kataf.
