Actress Shola Kosoko Advocates for Personal Safety in Marriage: “No Marriage is Worth Your Life

Nollywood actress Shola Kosoko recently shared her perspective on marriage and divorce, particularly emphasizing the importance of personal safety and well-being. In an interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, she discussed the multitude of advice women receive when facing critical situations in marriage.

Referring to a Yoruba adage, Shola Kosoko highlighted the significance of making individual decisions, stating, “You can take A advice, take B advice, but when it comes to a point, you should be able to decide.” She stressed the idea that no marriage is worth risking one’s life.

With over a decade of marriage to Abiodun Abinna and three children, Shola Kosoko shared her insights into the complexities of marital decisions. In the same vein, other actresses like Yetunde Bakare expressed a lack of belief in marriage, citing personal experiences that shaped her perspective. While acknowledging her commitment to a loving relationship, she declared that it wouldn’t lead to marriage.

Dayo Amusa, addressing the rising divorce rates, urged people not to rush into marriage. She emphasized that marriage isn’t for everyone and stressed the need for self-love, stating that individuals can’t give what they don’t possess.

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, known for his candid views on relationships, shared a thought-provoking message, emphasizing that some women prioritize marriage over everything else, including their relationship with God, personal well-being, and the welfare of future children. He highlighted the importance of finding joy in single life before expecting happiness in marriage.
