If Governance is a boxing match between opponents and proponents, it can easily be assumed that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has scored a total TKO on his opponents with a blasting run of activities in the last two weeks.
Since commissioning two mega Flyovers on Tuesday 4th August 2020 which critics say He will never do, the Governor never looked back till He flagged-off the construction of Roads of various distances in Madagali, Michika, Yola North, Yola South, Numan, Jada and Hong Local Governments.
This was nothing short of Declaring a State of Emergency on the condition of roads in the State.
This came long after He commenced the construction of Rural Roads spanning Two Hundred and Eighty-One Kilometres under the Rural Access and Mobility Programme in communities across the State.
But the opposition has been relentless at aiming salvos at the Governor’s recent exploits especially against the Fly-over contracts awarded by His Government.
The opposition has forgotten so early that Fintiri is trying to revive Adamawa State after the APC had brought it to knees through clueless Governance. The APC has also conveniently forgotten how it bastardized Governance, pulverized the economy and pauperized the people, to the extent that the Fintiri Government had to redouble efforts to clean the mess bequeathed by its mindless and sleazy administration.
Regrettably, Fintiri’s drive to change Adamawa’s Story of despair and successive letdowns is being confronted with “bad belle” politics that hinders them from acknowledging good when it is seen.
Besides, what moral right does the opposition have to criticise Fintiri when it ran a Government that slept on duty throughout its four years, only to wake up when it was too late. People who are good at talking about what they are doing, actually do little, but Governor Fintiri who is doing a lot never talks about what He is doing. He lets His actions speak louder.
Fintiri has chosen to dwell on good governance rather than on the blame game. He has been bold enough to gallantly assume responsibility for what went wrong; fixing it and doing the State well.
Fintiri has demystified and broken Adamawa State’s jinx of Arrested Development, hitherto held captive by sleazy and bad Governance and arguably gave it the “breadth of Fresh Air”.
A man well known for His disposition to change narratives, the ATM Governor has promoted a culture of political accommodation that has redefined the parameters of engagement with the opposition.
Those of us familiar with Fintiri know that He has a ferocious work ethic. The Governor is focused, purpose driven, devoted to duty, contemptuous of opulence and impatient with small talk.
This is the main reason why He has largely ignored all the idle talk and focused on delivering His mandate.
Fintiri can be very engaging only on Matters of State and the advancement of His mandate.
He is adept at organizing His official schedules and private live. At home, He is a warm, firm but doting father who gives time to His children, as a hands-on Dad.
A telling contrast to His political contemporaries and associates is His readiness to act unilaterally, defying conventional wisdom, which reflects courage and intellectual capacity.
Interestingly, Fintiri has vowed not to be distracted by the shenanigans of opponents.
The fact remains that His passion to lay the foundation for the redemption of Adamawa State is unshakeable.
By His very actions so far, the ATM Governor has restored the confidence of the average citizen in an enduring social pact, bestowing a breadth of Fresh Air, and redesigning the entirety of Governance for the benefit of citizens.
Thank God, the quintessential non-conformist, shows no sign of slowing down as Government steamrolls towards the Halfway mark.
The ATM Governor Has given His distractors the T.K.O. He, has demonstrated all gusto to survive several other bouts and does not need distractors to sustain the momentum.
In terms of clarity of vision and sincerity of purpose, no Governor Has ever been readier.
In terms of tangible results and transparent control over machinery, no Governor has ever been well prepared and readier.
In terms of well-intentioned public oriented programmes and the political will to implement them, no Governor has been any better.
