A heavily pregnant woman, Zainab Hassan, her sister and 2 of their male brothers have been remanded in a Yola prison custody in connection with alleged gruesome murder of their sister’s stepson, Abdullahi Samaila.
The suspects, Rukaiyya Audu, 28, Zainab Hassan, 35, Musa Abdullahi,22, and Abubakar Hassan, 19 were alleged to have agreed amongst themselves to do an illegal act by killing the 25 year old Abdullahi.
The accused and residents of Sangere FUTY were arraigned before Justice Nathan Musa’s High Court in Yola, Adamawa state on 2 count charges of criminal conspiracy contrary to section 60(1) (a) of the Penal Code Law of the state, 2018 and punishable under section 61(1) of same.
According to prosecution, the pregnant woman, Zainab Hassan, the 2 male brothers who are Keke NAPED riders and the 1st defendant, Rukaiyya Audu, conspired and beat thoroughly the stepson son of the 1st defendant to death on 7th November, 2019.
It was alleged that the deceased and his stepmother who is the 1st defendant in this case had been having a running battle since the day his father, Samaila married her.
Real trouble ensued when the 1st defendant came back home on that fateful day and met late Abdullahi Samaila beating Aisha, her daughter whom she born for her first husband.
The defendant quickly used her GSM Mobile phone and invited her pregnant sister and 2 male brothers who rushed in with sticks, and beat the deceased ruthlessly as a result of which he died on the spot.
The defendants who are of the same family used to render a helping hands to each other more especially when anyone of them found himself or herself in such a situation.

Meanwhile, when the 2 count charges preferred against the accused were read and explained to them during the court proceedings, all the suspects pleaded not guilty to committing the crime.
However, the court presided over by Honourable Justice Nathan Musa, adjourned the matter to 14th October, 2020, for hearing.
