Adeboye Apologises for Claiming No Heaven Without Tithing

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has apologised for a previous statement in which he said Christians who do not pay tithe might not make it to heaven. Adeboye addressed the issue while speaking to a youth congregation at the ongoing RCCG Youth Convention, with a video of the apology circulating online.

Describing his earlier statement as a “mistake,” Adeboye clarified that the Bible does not say tithing is a prerequisite for heaven. He emphasized that the key to salvation is living a peaceful and holy life.

“I apologise for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God,’” he explained.

Adeboye went on to elaborate, using a scientific analogy to suggest that spiritual understanding can evolve over time. He added that while tithing at 10% is often taught, it should be seen as a starting point, and he hinted at sharing further insights on the matter in the future.
