By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi state Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on Wednesday in Okene announced that suspected sponsors of the attack on the people of Agojeju-odo in Omalla local government area have been arrested.

Governor Ododo who announced this while fielding questions from Journalists shortly after the Eid-El-fitr prayers said it’s unfortunate that the attack claimed scores of lives adding that perpetrators will not go unpunished.

He pointed out that “the crisis in Bagana in Omala Local Government area did not start today. It has been in existence for over 45 years ago, precisely 1978. We are doing our best to make sure peace is restored within the area.”

”As I speak to you today, the suspected sponsors have been arrested, investigation are ongoing. They are giving us useful information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects. As soon as we are done with that investigation, the report will be made known to the public”

Against the recent Agojeju Odo pogrom by suspected Fulani bandits and lingering violent crises in Bagana and its environs, security operatives may have arrested two chiefs and three others from Bagana communities.

Their arrest according to security sources is connected to their deep knowledge of the crises that had rocked and rocking Bagana and its environs which later escalated to Agojeju Odo and other villages within the corridor.
