A’Ibom Police deploy 2000 policemen for Xmas

The police in Akwa Ibom say it has deployed 2,000 officers to
strategic locations and areas across the state to tackle crime and
criminality before during and after the Christmas and New Year
celebrations.

It has also assured that it would remain resolute and firm in
delivering qualitative police services for the benefit of all
visitors, investors and residents during the period.

A statement endorsed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko
Macdon, on Thursday in Uyo and made available to newsmen appealed to
all residents of the state to be security conscious and report any
suspicious movement to the police.

“As we celebrate let us be reminded that Akwa Ibom is one of the most
peaceful states in Nigeria today. The command will remain resolute and
uncompromising in delivering qualitative policing services for the
benefits of all visitors and Akwa Ibomites before during and after the
celebrations.

“To ensure a hit-free celebration the command has deployed over 2000
personnel to strategic areas and locations across the state. We must
therefore be security conscious at all times and report any suspicious
movement or persons to the police.” The statement said.

While felicitating with the government and people of the state on the
celebration of birth of Jesus which is the greatest gift to mankind,
the command reminded them of the need to rededicate themselves to the
service of God and love for one another.

The statement appealed to politicians to play by the rules warned the
youth against engaging in any form of violence to achieve a peaceful
and credible elections in the state.

“As we approach the 2019 general elections, the command wishes to once
again enjoin politicians to play by the rules while our youths must
endeavour to eschew all forms of thuggery for a peaceful and credible
2019 election.” The statement concluded
