Thirty-nine students from Gombe State who received scholarships sponsored by APC governorship aspirant Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna have expressed support for his 2027 governorship ambition, citing the impact of the education initiative on their academic pursuits.The beneficiaries, who were sponsored to study at Yamusa Science Academy in Birnin Kebbi and are now enrolled in various higher institutions, said the scholarship programme had transformed their lives.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mohammed Umar said the selection process reflected Gwamna’s commitment to education and youth development, noting that students from different parts of the state benefited regardless of personal connections. “We are undergraduates today because he believed in our future,” Umar said, adding that the experience had strengthened their confidence in Gwamna’s vision for education and youth empowerment.

Another beneficiary, Hafsat Abubakar, described the scholarship as a life-changing opportunity that enabled her to pursue her educational goals.Responding, Gwamna said investment in human capital remains essential to sustainable development. He pledged to prioritise education, vocational training and digital skills development if elected governor.

The APC aspirant also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for reforms in the education sector. He said the state had recorded improvements in learning outcomes, including a rise in external examination pass rates, increased school enrolment and investments in educational infrastructure.The figures and achievements cited by Gwamna were presented as part of his remarks and were not independently verified.

Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has launched a solar-powered campus tricycle shuttle service aimed at providing affordable, safe and environmentally friendly transportation for students and staff.

The service was inaugurated on Tuesday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Muhammed Suleiman Audu, in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, principal officers, students, staff and members of the Tricycle Operators Association of Nigeria (TOAN).

Speaking at the event, Prof. Audu commended Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for their support for the university. He said the initiative would improve mobility, enhance campus security and contribute to a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Usman described the shuttle service as a major milestone in the university’s efforts to improve staff and student welfare through accessible and affordable transportation. He said the solar-powered tricycles would complement existing motorcycle transport services while supporting the institution’s security and sustainability goals.

The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the role of Hon. Isah Emmanuel Ojodunwene, Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor, in facilitating the project. He urged operators to maintain high standards of professionalism and ensure safe, efficient service delivery.

Chairman of the Tricycle Operators Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Kogi State Chapter, Ahmed Sadiq Achemaje, pledged that operators would comply with university regulations. He added that all tricycles under the scheme would carry the university’s official colours to distinguish them from commercial vehicles.

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has urged Nigerians living abroad to support the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu and invest in Kogi State as part of efforts to promote national development.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with Kogi indigenes and other Nigerians in London, the governor said the country’s progress depends on the collective efforts of citizens at home and in the diaspora.

According to a statement issued by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Ododo encouraged Nigerians abroad to contribute not only financial investments but also their expertise, innovation and global networks to the state’s development. The governor said Kogi’s growing unity has provided a foundation for development, adding that the state has moved beyond ethnic and religious divisions to pursue shared economic progress.

Ododo also commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms and fiscal policies, saying they have improved the financial capacity of states to invest in infrastructure, healthcare, education and agriculture. He highlighted several Federal Government projects in Kogi, including the approved Kogi International Airport, the Kogi Free Trade Zone, the Agricultural Processing Zone, efforts to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the reconstruction of key federal roads.

The governor said his administration has expanded investments in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment while working with federal security agencies to improve safety across the state. At the meeting, participants pledged to support Kogi’s development by attracting investment and contributing their professional expertise. They also expressed support for the Federal Government’s ongoing economic reforms.
