A’Ibom to Explore More Power Options with NDPHC

By Ogenyi Ogenyi, Uyo

The Akwa Ibom government has expressed its readiness to partner with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) to explore more commercial opportunities for improved power supply in the state.

Governor Umo Eno made this announcement during a courtesy visit from the new management team of NDPHC in Uyo yesterday. He emphasized that power is a critical focus of the state’s development agenda, particularly in realizing his ARISE Agenda.

Eno highlighted the importance of the Ibom Power Plant as a key infrastructure asset and expressed a desire to collaborate with a competent partner to enhance power generation and distribution.

“We cannot fully deliver on the ARISE Agenda of this administration without power for our people. Power is a facilitator for all other developmental initiatives,” he stated.

He added, “We have been looking for ways to collaborate. That’s why we invited the Ministry of Power and the Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP) to discuss investment opportunities with your team.”

Governor Eno reiterated the significance of power, stating, “It will be beneficial if you are ready to partner with us. I believe we have valuable assets, and we can work together to ensure mutual benefits.”

Earlier, the MD/CEO of NDPHC, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, stated that the team visited the state to explore new market opportunities that would enhance NDPHC’s commercial activities.

Adighije expressed NDPHC’s readiness to partner with the Ibom Power Company Limited to meet the electricity needs of the state’s residents, eligible customers, and commercial and industrial clusters. She assured the governor that NDPHC is a capable partner to help fulfill his vision of generating and distributing electricity.

She emphasized that NDPHC has the largest generating capacity in the industry, enabling it to provide quality, reliable, and affordable electricity while adhering to federal laws and regulations in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government aimed at promoting energy efficiency.

Adighije commended the governor for his commitment to the state’s development and reiterated her company’s willingness to collaborate on addressing Akwa Ibom’s power needs.
