In furtherance of its agricultural revolution plan as contained in the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom Government has sealed an agreement with Songhai Initiative for a model farm in the State.
Speaking at a brief ceremony in Uyo weekend, Governor Umo Eno said the farm would help to showcase the agricultural potential of the State, create employment opportunities, and serve as a training ground for agripreneurs.
Eno said the State was ready and before long and would officially flag-off the project at its official site.
The Governor commended the Director- General of Songhai Initiative, Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo and his team for the good job done in Porto-Novo, Benin Republic and expressed hope that the initiative would be replicated in Akwa Ibom.
It would be recalled that the State had earlier in August 2023 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Songhai Initiative for the management of a model farm in the State which has culminated into the formal agreement to flag-off the project.
In his remarks, the regional representative of Songhai Initiative, Mr. Andre Thierry assured that they were ready and committed to the terms of the agreement and promised that the project would be successfully implemented in the State.
At the event were the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom (SAN), Commissioners for Agriculture – Dr. Offiong Offor, Economic Development and Budget, Hon Emem Bob and Lands, Captain Iniobong Ekong.
