Aisha Buhari Attends Senate Plenary

First Lady Aisha Buhari is currently at the plenary session in the Senate House of Assembly.

The First Lady is at the plenary to witness the laying of the constitution amendment report.

Specifically, Mrs Buhari is at the plenary to throw her weight behind an item for amendment in the 1999 constitution which seeks specific seats to be created for female legislators.

She is accompanied by the Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; and the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed.

Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege had earlier on Tuesday announced that the Senate Committee on Constitution Amendment will lay the report of the 1999 Constitution review before the Senate on Wednesday, February 23.

Federal lawmakers are also expected to vote on the amendments on March 1.
