Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving three federal institutions for the state within three years of his administration.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Abdulrahman Bundi, Zulum made the remarks on Sunday in Bama after visiting residents affected by a recent windstorm in the area.The governor said the approved institutions include the Federal College of Education, Gwoza; the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare; and the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship, Bama.
Zulum stated that the institutions would improve access to education and healthcare while creating employment opportunities for residents. He added that the projects would support post-insurgency recovery and economic development in the state.
Speaking on the newly established university in Bama, the governor noted that pioneer principal officers had already been appointed, describing the development as a significant milestone for the state.
He also recalled that the Borno State Government had earlier handed over Umar Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi College of Education, Science, and Technology, Bama, for the university’s take-off and approved N1 billion to support its commencement.
According to the statement, the state government has also provided financial support exceeding N5 billion for the establishment of other federal institutions in Monguno, Gwoza and Azare. Zulum later inspected ongoing construction work at the 19 Brigade headquarters in Bama.
