By  Milcah   Tanimu

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has spoken out following the tragic death of his wife, Patience. The first lady passed away on September 26, 2024, after a brief illness.

In a broadcast to citizens, Governor Eno shared memories of his late wife and reaffirmed his commitment to upholding her legacy. He described Patience as “everything a man could ever wish for in a virtuous woman.” She was his “prayer partner, counsellor, cheerleader, best critic, and homemaker,” he added.

The couple was married for 38 years, dedicating their lives to love and service for the people of Akwa Ibom. Governor Eno vowed to sustain and expand Patience’s pet projects, including The Golden Initiative for All. “We will pursue everything she held dear while she was with us,” he promised.

He reassured the public that the state government would continue to function seamlessly. “This is what Kemi (the Yoruba word for Patience) has always prayed for,” he noted.

On behalf of his family, Governor Eno thanked the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigerians for their overwhelming support and prayers during this difficult time.
