Kaduna Community Disputes Reported Rescue of Abducted Church Worshippers

A community group in Kaduna State has rejected reports that worshippers abducted during Easter attacks in Ariko, Kachia Local Government Area, have been rescued, describing the claims as inaccurate.

The Kuturmi Unity Development Association, in a statement signed by its president, J.D. Ariko, said none of the victims taken during the attack had regained freedom. The group was responding to earlier reports that troops of the Nigerian Army had rescued 31 abducted persons. According to the statement, families of the victims remain in contact with the abductors, who have reportedly indicated that those taken are still alive in captivity.

Suspected armed attackers had earlier stormed the community during Easter services, targeting worship centres, killing several people and abducting others, raising security concerns in the area. The association warned that unverified reports could create confusion and false hope for affected families, and urged authorities to ensure that only confirmed information is released to the public.

While acknowledging ongoing security efforts, the group called for intensified and coordinated action to secure the safe release of those abducted. It also expressed solidarity with affected families and said it would provide updates as credible information becomes available.
