The Leadership of the Interim Management Committee of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, has condemned in entirety some actions of security agencies such as the Department of State Security in aiding and abetting the suspended/removed Hon. Kolade Alabi led faction of the association to execute an unlawful NEC meeting at its secretariat in Abuja.

The IMC led by Hon. Abdullahi Maje, on Wednesday disclosed that despite its plea to security agencies to put a stop to the meeting, with reasons that such notice was against the biding constitution of ALGON and the suspended/removed BOT Chairman. Hon. Odunayo Ategbero has no rights whatsoever to call a meeting comprising of the National Executive Council, it was however amazed to see that some security agencies, still aided the faction.

In a statement duly signed and made available to newsmen by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Prince Ashonibare Jide, the IMC decried the incessant issues faced by the association from men who in their quest for power and more power, hijacked the association and turned it into a money milking ground for their own selfish aim to the detriment of the 774 local government areas.

The statement reads; “We are infuriated by the misplaced priority of the Department of State Security in aiding and abetting crimes such as impersonation, subterfuge, dereliction of duties and disrespect for an existing court restraining order against the. Irrespective of our peaceful notice and warning, they are still conniving with the faction of the association headed by Hon. Alabi Akolade David, the controversial chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) at the moment to execute an illegal NEC meeting, a meeting which we perceive is an avenue for them to plan out more strategic means to perpetrate injustice against the association, the IMC and its activities.

“We are deeply saddened by the recent turn out of events, the action of the DSS goes to show that the hope for achieving the President Buhari’s mandate of nipping corruption in the bud is still farfetched, as even with the Federal High Court restraining the Alabi Akolade David-led faction of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria from parading itself as the leaders of the association, the DSS which is charged with the mandate of protecting and defending the Federal Republic of Nigeria against domestic threats, upholding and enforcing the criminal laws of Nigeria, and providing leadership and criminal justice services to both federal and state law-enforcement organs, is now partisan to crime, injustice and deceit.

“The DSS is not supposed to used as a tool for violating a legitimate court order issued by a competent court of jurisdiction, we do not know what their interest is or how much they have been paid to carry out these injustices against the IMC and the association, we are however still appealing to the Inspector General of Police, President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in this matter, before issues get out of control.” It added.
