The All Progressive Congress (APC) has clinched all the 27 local government council chairmanship and 312 councillorship seats in the just concluded elections conducted by the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) last Saturday in BORNO state..
Declaring the results of the election at BOSIEC headquarters, Maiduguri, Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abdul Usman, said APC won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the 27 local governments in the state.
He said “by virtue of section 10 and 34 of the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission Law 2002 (as amended). I the chairman of Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) being the Chief Returning Officer of the state,wish to declare the successful candidates from the 27 local governments in the state,”
According to him, a total of 18 chairmanship candidates of the APC were returned unopposed as other political parties did not field in contestants, while 9 who were challenged by other candidates of other political parties won with landslide victory.
Meanwhile, the chairman Borno Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Alhaji Zanna Gadama, has described the election as a charade. “There was no election, what took place was appointment not election,” he alleged while reacting to the conduct of the election.
