APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Loses Mother

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mama Lydia Yilwatda, has passed away.

Her death was confirmed in a statement signed by Shittu Bamaiyi, Acting Publicity Secretary of the APC in Plateau State, and made available to newsmen in Jos.

According to family sources, she died on Sunday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital at the age of 83.

The statement described her passing as not only a personal loss to Professor Nentawe Yilwatda but also to the APC family in Plateau State and the country at large.

“Mama’s death is painful and devastating to the Yilwatdas because she passed on at a time when her motherly advice and prayers were most needed, particularly by the National Chairman,” the party noted.

A devoted Christian and humble women leader in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Mama Lydia was widely respected for her service to the church. Together with her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, she contributed immensely to the growth of COCIN in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States.

The statement added that she left behind an enduring legacy, reflected in the lives of her children.

Her demise, it said, is a great loss to the church, the women’s fellowship, and Plateau State.

The APC prayed for God to grant her soul eternal rest and to comfort Professor Yilwatda and his family.
