The  Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has earmarked  400 hecters of land at the Wasa , Waru  district permanent site for the relocation of Apo Mechanic traders and artisans.

The Chairman of the Committee for relocation of the traders, TPL Abubakar Makama disclosed this when the Committee visited the site.

The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC, Obuh Felix Amaechi has recently inaugurated a 19 Members Technical Committee on behalf of the FCT Administration to handle the successful relocation of the traders from the Apo Mechanic site to the permanent site in Wassa, Waru district.

Speaking at the site, the Committee Chairman TPL Abubakar Makama stated that they are starting with the Apo Mechanic traders before the Artisans because of the pressure from the traders and the ongoing road construction in the area.

The Committee Chairman said, ” As they are on ground now, they will take the perimeter again, until when they finish their work, we’d be able to tentatively say, this is the size. But for now we can say 391 hecters, that’s almost 400 hecters for the Apo Machanic business men and the Artisans.

” We are starting with the Apo Mechanic because of the pressure and ongoing road construction with the area.”

Makama noted, ” What we are saying in terms of accessibility, the relocation site is well connected with many expressways. If you start from the main Apo Junction, the expressway construction is going on as you can see by yourself how the road was diverted as we were coming in, and then as we were also joining the Apo-Karshi road, you can see how they were linked with another expressway through Waru district up to the Wassa district”.

“Right now we are in Wassa, we are going to the relocation site, and this road is where Apo-Karshi is linked. In a North shell what we are saying is that, the proposed is accessible”, Makama stated.

He assured the traders that the committee will work within a stipulated time of three months given to them by the Coordinator to deliver its assignment.

Makama also assured the APO Machanic traders that equal treatment will be given to the affected persons in the course of their assignment.
