Arewa Youths Threaten Action Against Relocation of CBN, FAAN Headquarters to Lagos

The Joint-Action Northern Youth Associations, a coalition of 16 civil society organizations in the North, including Arewa Defence League and Arewa Youth for Development, rejects the relocation of key departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to Lagos by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration. They declare the relocation as illegal, null, and void, emphasizing that it disrespects the law and creates a sense of alienation for northerners. The group warns that failure to reverse the decision will result in mobilizing youths for mass action, combining legal, political, and civil actions to challenge the move. They call on the Federal Government to preserve the status quo by maintaining the CBN and FAAN headquarters in Abuja. The group insists on preventing any form of discrimination, dominion, or marginalization against any part of the country while expressing opposition to undermining Abuja as the Federal Capital.
