Armed Forces Remembrance: Oyebanji Praises Military for Saving Nigeria from Anarchy

By   Milcah   Tanimu

Governor’s Praise for Military Commitment

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji praised the Nigerian Army for its commitment and patriotism. He said their sacrifices saved Nigeria from anarchy and protected the nation’s territorial integrity.

The Role of the Military in Safeguarding Nigeria

Speaking at the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Oyebanji highlighted the military’s role in preventing unrest caused by insurgents, bandits, and kidnappers. He credited them for maintaining stability in the country.

“I must recognize the role of our military in saving Nigeria from turmoil. Without your dedication, we could have been engulfed in chaos,” Oyebanji said. He also thanked them for securing Ekiti, noting their partnership with other security forces has fostered peace and investment in the state.

Governor’s Donations to War Veterans

The Governor made a donation to support war veterans and contributed personally for their upkeep. The Ekiti State government also donated N10 million to the veterans.

Wreath-Laying Ceremony and Commemoration

The event took place at the Ekitiparapo Pavilion and featured wreath-laying ceremonies. Oyebanji, the Speaker of the Ekiti Assembly, and other dignitaries participated in the ceremony.

Honoring Fallen Heroes and Supporting Veterans

Oyebanji also remembered soldiers who lost their lives in service and those still serving. He urged Nigerians to show support for the families of fallen soldiers and veterans, emphasizing the spirit of patriotism.

“Your unwavering dedication has allowed us to go about our daily activities with peace of mind. I assure you that my administration will continue to support you,” Oyebanji said.

Urging National Unity Against Insecurity

Reflecting on Nigeria’s broader challenges, Oyebanji urged citizens to unite against insecurity. He said insecurity hinders the nation’s growth.

“This moment calls for unity and solidarity. We must come together, tolerate one another, and build a nation where peace and justice prevail,” he added.

Governor’s Commitment to Ekiti’s Development

Oyebanji concluded by reaffirming his commitment to improving infrastructure, security, human capital, job creation, and good governance in Ekiti. He promised to make life better for the residents, including the military and veterans.
