Armed men have reportedly kidnapped the Acting Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Engr. Emmanuel Barki, on his way to the institution after attending an official function in Makurdi.

Findings by Day Break indicated that Engr. Barki was whisked away by unidentified gunmen along with other top management staff of the institution and their driver to an unknown destination.

It was learned that the abductors moved the victims away from the highway and abandoned the official vehicle belonging to the polytechnic. Their whereabouts are yet to be known as of the time of filing this report.

According to impeccable sources, the kidnappers demanded a colossal sum of seventy million naira from the family of the Acting Rector as ransom for their release.

Efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Sewuese Anene, to confirm the incident failed as her phone number was said to be switched off.
