Army arrests fake soldier in Nasarawa

In a joint operation, officers of the Nigerian Army have apprehended an individual posing as a soldier in the Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The imposter was subsequently handed over to the Nasarawa State Police Command for further investigation.

According to the statement released by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, the arrest was a result of diligent efforts by the command’s officers. The suspect, identified as Muhammed Haladu, was found in possession of full military camouflage.

Haladu claimed to be a soldier attached to the 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State. However, investigations revealed that he was engaged in fraudulent activities, deceiving unsuspecting individuals by promising them employment in the Nigerian Army. It was discovered that the imposter had attempted to join the military but failed, resorting to purchasing a military uniform to carry out his illicit schemes.

In a separate incident, the police arrested Kabiru Alhaji Yusuf, a notorious armed robbery suspect. Acting on credible information, the Command’s Anti-Robbery team intercepted Yusuf and two accomplices riding an unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle in Fadaman Bauna. The suspects fled on sight of the police, but Yusuf was successfully apprehended after a pursuit. A search on Yusuf led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and the unregistered motorcycle as evidence.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, commended the officers for their successful operations and urged them to remain vigilant in the ongoing fight against criminal activities across the 13 local government areas of the state.
