Army Assures to Unravel Persons Behind Killings in Benue Communities

The Nigerian Army has assured that it will unravel persons behind the killings in Tarka and Guma Local Government Areas by unknown Gunmen recently.

Major Gen. Adeyemi Yekini, the Chief of Training and Operations, Defence Headquarters, gave this assurance in Makurdi, the Benue State capital when he led other top Army Officers to the affected communities on a fact finding mission.

He contended that the Chief of the Army staff had given a matching order to carry out thorough investigation into the matter, stating that no stone would be left unturned to bring perpetrators of the dasterdly act to face justice.

The former Commander of the Operation Whirle Stroke commiserated with the people of the communities
over the incident, urging them to have faith in the Army.

Responding, the District Head of Shitile in Tarka Local Government, Chief Sabastine Hule, lauded the Nigerian Army, describing the visit as consoling.

He called on the military to sustain their presence in the area to instill security confidence in the people, even as he assured the Army Officers of his cooperation.

Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Rtd Col. Paul Hemba promised the Nigerian Army government’s support to the Operation Whirle Stroke’s troops to enable them operate effectively.
