Aspirant Faults APC Central Senatorial Primaries in Kogi, Calls for Fresh Election

A Senatorial Aspirant from the central senatorial district, Hajia Ramatu Tassalla Shehu on Tuesday faulted the conduct of the just concluded APC Senatorial Primaries in Kogi Central.

Hajia Ramatu Shehu who was speaking at a press briefing in Lokoja on Tuesday, said that the laid down guidelines for the conduct of the primary election was not followed coupled with other irregularities that were exhibited during the exercise.

She declared that there was no APC primaries in the zone and no candidate has emerged, demanding that the purported out come of the election be discarded and that fresh election be conducted.

“As it is now, APC should be prepared to conduct fresh primaries in Kogi Central to give room for level play ground for all the aspirants and to ensure that the laid down guidelines are strictly followed” She pleaded.

“There was no accreditation of delegates. We were still shocked that Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, a political appointee was made the Returning Officer for the election contrary to APC Guidelines. This a gross aberration of the rules” She lamented.

The senatorial hopeful described the activities of the Congress as a selection and not an election, adding that what happened at the venue of the primary election was what obtained in the animal farm.

Hajia Ramatu Shehu said no accreditation was held, she was never allowed to meet with the delegates, lamented how Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, a Political actor from the district could be made the returning Officer.

She called on her teeming supporters to remain calm despite the obvious manipulation, asked for a level playing field for the people to choose their preferred candidate.

She disclosed that in her estimation, no Primary was held in Kogi Central, described the results published in the Social media as fictitious and laughable with imaginary votes allocated.

She dissociated herself from what she described as a Kangaroo Primaries and would be heading to Appeal Committee.
