At Least 300 Households, 2000 Farmlands Submerged in Sokoto

At least about 300 households were forced to vacate their homes in sanyinna town of sokoto due to heavy downfall while about 2000 farmlands were washed off farm produce.

Due to heavy overflooding,many people were rendered homeless as their houses collapsed, properties including farm products lost as water submerged homes and farmlands in the southern part of sanyinna were took over by water.

This followed the downpour that lasted for over twelve hours which evidently can be seen in the pictures residents evacuating belongings including animals from their collapsed houses for safety.

The most worrying issue is that the flooding was believe to be as a result of overflow of shagari earth dam that is speedily on the increase.
