Atiku Congratulates Trump on US Election Victory

By Abigail Philip David

Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated President Donald Trump on his re-election victory in the United States. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Atiku praised the outcome as a testament to the enduring strength of democracy.

Atiku expressed admiration for the resilience of the democratic process in the US, highlighting the global importance of credible elections.

“I closely followed the US presidential election, watching with bated breath as Americans decided their future. It is with satisfaction that I reflect on the result, which marks a resounding victory for President Donald Trump and the Republican Party,” Atiku stated.

He described Trump’s win as a powerful symbol of democratic resilience, noting that Trump’s political journey exemplifies courage in the face of adversity. “This triumph stands as a testament to the resilience of democracy — a reminder that, despite its trials, democracy remains a force for good in the world,” he said.

According to Atiku, Trump’s victory serves as a parable of perseverance, showcasing the power of rising after every setback. He added, “The narrative of President Trump’s journey, marked by struggles and triumphs, inspires courage and resilience.”

Atiku also expressed hope that Trump’s administration would support free and fair elections globally, underscoring the importance of credible electoral processes, particularly in Nigeria. “The lesson for us in Nigeria is the integrity of a process that ensures credible outcomes. We expect that the Trump administration will champion free and fair elections in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.

He concluded by congratulating the American people for their faith in democracy. “I also congratulate the people of the United States, whose unwavering belief in democracy and the sanctity of the ballot has once again demonstrated the true power of the people’s voice,” Atiku added.
