Residents and motorists of the ancient Ile-Ife community in Osun State are currently reeling in pain over the deplorable state of roads in the area which have become dilapidated saying the community has been marginalised.

As motorists drive daily through some of the major roads in the community, including Lagere, Mayfair, Sabo, Eleyeile, Iremon, Arubidi, Line 1,2,3 among other, they contend with potholes and blockages on these roads as some of them are now impassable.

Motorists lamented that the state of the roads in Ife community currently had caused huge wear and tear on their vehicles, particularly with the big potholes and craters.

Our Correspondent, gathered that, despite traffic challenges caused by the bad roads most especially at Lagere and Mayfair, commercial drivers and Okada riders still maintain their fares as some bike riders inflate theirs when it rains or at peak periods in the morning.

Some motorists who spoke with our correspondent under the condition of anonymity condemned the Osun State government over marginalisation of Ile-Ife community.

According to them, “Ile-Ife did not deserve such a treatment from the Osun State government as almost all roads in the community are not passable due to it’s current condition.

” We are commending our father, the Ooni of Ife for all he has been doing towards the development of the entire community and Yoruba land as a whole, but we are surprised that the state government is not doing well in extending it’s people oriented programmes to Ife people who are also tax payers.

“We are using this medium to call on the Osun State government to wake up from their slumber and commence rehabilitation work on all roads in Ife community before it is too late”.
