Banditry: FG to draft police mobile unit to Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi Sule, has said that the Federal Government has concluded arrangements to draft a unit of the Police Mobile Force, to confront banditry in the state especially to areas experiencing frequent attacks.

Governor Sule made this known at the palace of the Sarkin Loko, HRH Alhaji Umar Monday, while on a courtesy visit. He expressed appreciation to President Buhari and the Police IGP, Mohammed Adamu for putting measures in place to tackle the security challenges confronting the state and for by dispatching a unit of MOPOL to ensure security of lives and property, the Governor said the security agents will be stationed between Ajaga, Bakono and Loko, as well as Tunga town.

“The Federal Government is quick in sending a unit of mobile police, that will be stationed in the area in the next one week. We want to show great appreciation to to that,” he said.

Governor Sule also used the opportunity to call on the people of Loko Development Area, to cooperate with the security agents, so that they can effectively protect the people. He also appealed to communities in the area not to cooperate with the bandits by shielding their identities.

He warned the bandits to leave the area, since most of them came from other parts of the country, stressing that if they failed to leave, the only option left is to dislodge them forcefully like it was done in Otu. The Governor said also that he was seeking to partner with Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), the major contractor handling the now completed Oweto-Loko bridge, with a view to converting their camp into a recreational spot, that would be used to host  a mega bus terminal in the area.
