BANDITRY: Kaduna under siege as scores kidnapped in Chikun LG again

Kaduna, the defunct capital of northern region is under siege following the incessant invasion of the various communities by armed bandits.Within a spate of one week, more than 32 people have been abducted including women and children, while many others escaped with serious bullets in injuries.Most of the operations took place at the homes of the victims, including in Kariji, Karuga New Extension,  especially midnight, when people were already on beds sleeping.The most recent kidnapped incident occurred in Yakowa new road, in kajiri, Chikun local government area of the State, where ten innocent people were reportedly abducted between Wednesday and Saturday this week from residents apartments.Although the police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, confirmed the information when contacted but could not give any details as demanded. However, a statement posted on Nigeria union of journalists, Nuj, Kaduna chat forum by eyewitness on Saturday stated that eight were kidnapped on Wednesday and two others abducted on Saturday in kariji, Yakowa road while one person escaped with fatal injury of bullet wound.”Thank God for seeing this day. Kidnappers on rampage in Karji, Yakowa road. They have invaded our area. 8 people taken on Wednessday, 2 people last night, One escape with serious gun shot injuries.
“We all took cover at different location. These guys had a filled day combing the streets of Karji, Karuga New Extension. Thanks to God for survival. Thanks to Sam Aruwa and Kaduna Deputy Commissioner of Police.
“More prayers and security in the area, as some residents may be relocating to relatively “safe” areas in town”, the eyewitness stated.
Recalled that between Sunday and Monday night, 7 were earlier kidnapped in Barakallaahu, including 4 children and 2 women by the bandits from Barakallaahu line around LEA primary school, in Igabi LG of kaduna.
Shortly before then, 17 persons were also kidnapped on the way to farm in Uduwa community in Chikun LG, as one out of the four that escaped with bullets wound died a day later.The State commissioner, ministry of home affairs and internal security, Mr Samuel Aruwan and the deputy commissioner of police, reportedly actively took part in saving people in Kariji incidents.
