Accelerate Work, Timelines Non-Negotiable – Tarabina Tells Contractors

The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, , has directed contractors handling government projects across the state to speed up execution, stressing that completion timelines remain non-negotiable.

Tarabina gave the directive on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, during an inspection tour of the 13-kilometre Angiama/Enewari road project in Bayelsa State.

He stated that projects being executed under the Prosperity Administration are legacy initiatives that must be delivered as scheduled, emphasizing that the state government remains committed to infrastructural development capable of driving multidimensional economic growth.

According to him, the Directorate will enforce strict adherence to approved standards and specifications, noting that the projects are critical to the overall development of the state.

“These are legacy projects that must be completed on schedule. Timelines are non-negotiable, and contractors must ensure that work progresses according to approved plans,” he said.

Responding, the site supervisor, , disclosed that significant progress had been made on the Angiama/Enewari road project.

He said over 10 kilometres of clearing had been completed, while sand filling had covered more than 5 kilometres. He added that 10 culverts had been constructed, with the 11th currently ongoing.

Soriana further stated that work was progressing steadily on a two-span, 30-metre bridge at chainage 1+900, where piling had been completed. He noted that reinforcement work on both abutments was ongoing, while 12 out of the 14 required base structures had already been cast.

Tarabina also inspected the Akaba/Okodi Road Phase II project, covering the stretch from Okodi to Ayakoro, where clearing had been completed and formation of bond walls was ongoing. Dredging along the alignment and construction of a box culvert were also in progress.

He was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Secretary of the Directorate, , board members and other engineers.
