Bandits Attack Kaduna Hospital, Kidnap Nurses and Patients

In a shocking incident, bandits attacked the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping two nurses and an unknown number of patients.

According to Musa Alhassan, a leader of a local vigilante group, the bandits initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School around 9 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024. However, upon discovering the school was empty, they shifted their focus to the healthcare centre.

Alhassan explained, “The bandits came to the school asking for students, but when they found the school deserted, they moved to the healthcare centre and started abducting people.”

Two female nurses and several patients were taken hostage, though the exact number of patients kidnapped remains unclear. The attack has left the community in fear.

An eyewitness recounted the scene: “The bandits stormed the healthcare centre with guns and machetes, dragging people out while we stood helpless.”

This is the latest in a series of bandit attacks in Kaduna State, underscoring the urgent need for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and healthcare facilities.

As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command and state government officials have not confirmed the incident. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, have been unsuccessful.
