Bauchi Police Apprehend Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing Brother

By Daniel Edu

Isyaku Babale, a 30-year-old resident of Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi Metropolis, has been taken into custody by the Bauchi State Police Command following allegations of fatally stabbing his brother. This information was disclosed by SP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, in a statement released on Sunday in Bauchi.

Wakil explained that the arrest of the suspect was prompted by information received by the Divisional Police Officer of the Township Police Station, Bauchi, leading to the immediate dispatch of detectives to the scene.

He further elaborated that despite being rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The detectives subsequently launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended the suspect near the Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis. Preliminary investigations conducted by the detectives revealed that the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab his elder brother during an argument between them on March 31, 2024, around 0400hrs.

According to Wakil, both brothers had engaged in a physical altercation, and despite attempts at mediation, the situation escalated when the suspect reportedly retrieved a sharp object, suspected to be a knife, and stabbed the victim in the stomach.

Further investigations uncovered a history of frequent fights between the brothers, often involving the use of dangerous weapons.

The Commissioner of Police for the state, Auwal Musa, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident to ascertain any additional motives behind the suspect’s actions before proceeding with prosecution.
