The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has elected Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba as Chairman of its State Working Committee for a four-year term.The consensus election took place at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa and was supervised by the party’s state congress committee led by Zakari Adimbo. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise.
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, who attended the congress, described the process as peaceful and urged the new executive to prioritise unity and loyalty to the party’s structures at both state and national levels. He called on members to avoid factionalism and work collectively to strengthen the APC in the state.
In his remarks, outgoing caretaker committee chairman, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, commended party leaders for what he described as efforts to foster reconciliation ahead of the congress.
Former Deputy Governor Peremobowei Ebebi moved the motion for the dissolution of the previous executive, which was seconded by Speaker Abraham Ingobere. In his acceptance speech, Ogoriba, a former member of the House of Representatives, pledged to sustain internal cohesion and reposition the party for future elections.
Other members of the new executive include Ayobegha James (Deputy Chairman), Barr. Japan Odoji (Secretary), Luke Demeoru (Assistant Secretary) and James Inengite (Publicity Secretary).
