Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has suspended HRH Wilcox Seiyefa Job, the Paramount Ruler of Swali Community, with immediate effect, following reports implicating two of the monarch’s sons in alleged cult activities.
In a joint press statement, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, and Chief Thompson Amule, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, cited the ruler’s failure to provide the leadership needed to curb crime and cultism in his community as the basis for the suspension.
The government has directed the Commissioner of Police to declare the monarch’s sons and other individuals involved in cultism wanted for investigation and prosecution.
According to the Statement, the move aims to restore peace and security in Swali Community, which has been disrupted by cult-related violence.
The Bayelsa State Government emphasized its commitment to tackling security challenges and promoting accountability, calling on citizens to work with security agencies to eradicate cultism and other criminal activities throughout the state.
