Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has expanded his support for the Bayelsa Media Awards (BMA) with the endowment of the SDD Prize for News Editor of the Year, bringing to four the number of categories sponsored by his administration.

Under the governor’s endowment, winners in each category will receive a cash prize of ₦500,000 and a tablet device.

According to the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, the gesture underscores Governor Diri’s recognition of the media’s vital role in promoting government policies and driving development in the state. He assured that the administration would continue to support positive initiatives in the media sector.

Project Manager of the BMA, Victor Binawari, expressed appreciation to the governor, noting that the support will further motivate media practitioners to pursue excellence in their work.

The Bayelsa Media Awards is an annual platform designed to celebrate and reward outstanding journalists and media professionals contributing to the growth and development of the state.
