Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared Friday, October 4, 2024, a work-free day to enable residents to participate in the Local Government elections scheduled for Saturday, October 5, 2024.
In a press statement released by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the declaration aims to give Benue residents ample opportunity to travel to their respective local governments in preparation for the elections.
“His Excellency emphasized the importance of active participation in the electoral process and encouraged all citizens to take advantage of the work-free day to exercise their civic duty,” the statement added.
Governor Alia expressed confidence that, with commitment and adequate preparations, the elections would be conducted freely and fairly, urging all public and private sector organizations to support the initiative by allowing employees to use this opportunity to travel.
He implored citizens to ensure peaceful conduct and collaboration during the elections, reiterating the need for unity and cooperation among all parties involved in the electoral exercise.
