Benue police arrests 5 man robbery gang

The Benue State Police Command has reported the arrest of a gang of five armed robbers including a female, terrorising motorist/commuters along Vandeikya-Adikpo road by men of Operation Zenda following a tip off.

A statement by the state police public relations officer Joel Yamu further reveals that exhibits recovered from them include locally Fabricated Guns, expended Cartridge, live ammunition, cutlasses,dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms being used for their operations.

Other items suspected to have been robbed from innocent citizens include,new assorted cloths ,handsets, laptop and a motorcycle.

The PPRO also disclosed that men of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) while on stop and search at Sati Agirigi Village Katsina Ala-Takum road sighted and suspected two persons on a Bajaj Motorcycle approaching them. The suspects quickly turn in an attempt to escape but were given a chase. They dropped their handbag containing Fifty Five (55) ammunition of various calibres and some dangerous charms. Effort to arrest the fleeing suspects in progress.

Similarly men of the Operation Zenda equally arrested six armed men
all of various addresses at Ugbema in Buruku LGA and recovered some arms and valuable.

The suspects confessed to a gang of nine (9) terrorising unsuspecting members of the Public along Gboko-Ugbema-Katsina Ala axis and dispossessing them of their valuables.
Effort is on to arrest remaining members of the gang.

The Commissioner of Police E. Ene Okon restated the Command’s commitment to rid the state of all forms of criminality and appreciated the good people of the State for their cooperation in the fight against crime.
