At least seventy one cases of Measles have been recorded in some local government areas of Benue State.
Findings by Day Break indicated that the virus has not claimed any life since its out break as at the time of filing this report.
Commissioner of Health and Human services, Dr Joseph Ngbea who announced the out break of aforesaid infectious disease in an interview in Makurdi, hinted that out of the 71 Cases, Guma and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas have recorded 17 and 13 cases respectively.
The Commissioner explained that the confirmed cases were currently receiving treatment at various health facilities in the state with severe cases being handled by the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
Dr Ngbea averred that the Ministry has swung to action, adding that it has embarked on massive vaccination at various Primary Healthcare Centers across the state.
The Commissioner advised Benue people to use the opportunity and get themselves vaccinated to contain the spread of the virus in the state.
