Benue State Executive Council, has approved the construction of two overhead bridges within Makurdi, the state capital.

Briefing Journalists on the resolution of the State Executive Council, SEC, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, Tersoo Kula, hinted that physibility studies were being carried out , preparatory for work to commence.

He stressed that Exco directed the Ministry of Works to kickstart the process of awarding contract for the two projects which is to be constructed at the high level and Wurukum roundabouts.

In another development, Mr Kula, revealed that SEC approved the establishment of Benue Public Service Institute which is to train and retrain Benue Civil Servants to enable them deliver more effective service to the state.

To this end, the Benue Public Service Institute will replace the Benue State Staff Development Center which investigation by Day Break indicated has become moribund for many years.

“Council agreed to establish Benue Public Service Institute, BPSI, to train civil servants. You will observed that before now we have what is called Staff Development Center, that center was created for training a category of civil servants at the Local Government level, but today the intention is to train all manner from junior to the highest category.

It has been observed that for over thirty years some civil servants have not steped out for a course anywhere. Promotional examination that they used to write, they are no longer doing that, so it has become necessary for government to establish an institute where civil servants will go for training.”
